Entrance exam
The Study Regulations or prospectus (Manifesto degli studi) establishes that if you enroll in one of the unrestricted access Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Florence, you are required to take an Entrance Test, which is mandatory but does not prevent enrollment. Its purpose is to assess your basic preparation.

The Entrance Exam consists of the TOLC-S test administered by CISIA. Since 2025, the new TOLC-S will is available on CISIA. |

Which Bachelor's Degree programmes require the Entrance Exam?
The Bachelor's Degree programmes under the School of Mathematical, Physical, and Natural Sciences that require passing the TOLC-S test are:
- Chemistry (L-27)
- Diagnostics and Materials for Conservation and Restoration (L-43)
- Physics and Astrophysics (L-30)
- Computer Science (L-31)
- Mathematics (L-35)
- Optics and Optometry (L-30)
- Materials Science (L.Sc.Mat)
- Geological Sciences (L-34)
- Natural Sciences (L-32)

When is the Entrance exam scheduled?
The TOLC-S test calendar is available on the CISIA website.
Where does the Entrance exam take place?
For the University of Florence, the test is held as a "TOLC at the University" at the computer labs on the first floor of the Plesso Didattico Morgagni, Viale Morgagni 40-44, Florence.
However, it is possible to take the test at any university location that is part of the CISIA consortium.
How to register for the Entrance exam?
All information about the exam, including registration procedures, will be specified in the admission call (bando).
What is the required score to pass the Entrance Exam?
Starting from 2025, the new TOLC-S will be available on CISIA. The required score to pass depends on when the test was taken:
